You can perform a diagnostic evaluation of some of your complains by using our chart for self-diagnosis.

A) Ear diseases

1)Otalgia
  • External otitis: due to over excoriation of the air canal
  • Otitis media: accompanying any upper respiratory  infection,common cold,influenza and so on
2)Hearing loss
  • Impacted cerumen: the most commom cause
  • Sudden deafness: sensorineural,unilateral,wake up deaf in one ear:
    associated symptoms;vertigo,sick,vomit
  • Otosclerosis: the most commom cause of conductive hearing loss
  • Endolymphatic hydrops(Meniere`s disease): sensorineural hearing loss,progressive,recruitment of loudness
  • Acoustic neuroma: tinnitus as the first symptom;vertigo and facial paralysis in late stages
3)Vertigo(Dizziness): Def.;presenting a disturbance in a patient`s subjective sensation of relationship to space

 

  • Cholesteatoma
  • Acute toxic labyrinthitis; the most frequent syndrome of whirling vertigo
  • Hydrops of the labyrinth(Meniere`s disease)
  • Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
  • Labirynthitis

 

  • Cerebro vascular diseases
  • Tumors
  • Cerebeller atrophy
  • Migraine     etc.
4)Facial paralysis: injury of the motor position of the facial nerve produces involving

B)Nose diseases

1)Acute rhinitis
  • a common cold is caused by a virus
  • typical symptoms are a feeling of irritation and a burning sensation of the nasopharynx
2)Allergic rhinitis
  • symptoms including mucous drainage,stuffiness,sneezing and itching
  • pollens-seasonal;house dust-perennial
3)Paranasal sinusitis
  • most often accompanying the common cold
  • localized pain and tenderness over the involved sinus
  • in maxillary sinusitis,the pain is over the cheek and the upper teeth
4)Hypertrophied turbinates
5)Nasal polyps
6)Non allergic vasomotor rhinitis
7)Furunculosis of the vestibule
8)Foreign bodies: purulent nasal discharge

C)Diseases of the pharynx

1)Acute pharyngitis
  • the most common
  • viral or bacterial
  • symptoms: sore throat,difficulty in swallowing and mild fever
2)Acute epiglottitis
  • common in young children,ages 1 to 5years
  • respiratory difficulty
3)Tonsillitis
  • severe sore throat
  • swallowing difficulty
  • high fever

D)Diseases of the larynx

1)Acute laryngitis:hoarseness within 2 weeks
2)Carcinoma of the larynx
  • hoarseness lasting longer than 2 weeks demand visualization of the larynx
  • laryngectomy or radiation therapy
